Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As an Endoscopy Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting endoscopists and the endoscopy team in the Endoscopy Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Endoscopic Procedures
    • Handle instruments and anticipate the needs of the endoscopists, assisting as directed.
    • Collect, accurately label, and forward specimens to the laboratory.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment
    • Clean and disinfect all equipment according to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Test disinfectant solutions for effectiveness daily and record results.
  • Prepare for Procedures
    • Prepare for scheduled endoscopic procedures, ensuring the necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
  • Assist with Patient Care
    • Assist in transportation of patients, via wheelchair or stretcher, within the department and hospital when necessary.
    • Verify patients' identity and assist with lifting and positioning of patients for endoscopy procedures.
  • Observe and Report
    • Observe patient condition while in the procedure room and report any changes to the RN, anesthesia personnel, or physician.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience
    • Six to twelve months of related work experience in a hospital or patient care setting.
  • Skills
    • Completion of Anatomy and Physiology preferred.
