Job Summary

The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Endoscopy Technician to join our team. As an Endoscopy Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting endoscopists and endoscopy teams in the Endoscopy Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist endoscopists with endoscopy procedures, ensuring that necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments after use, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Re-supply procedure rooms with standard supplies, maintaining endoscopy instruments and specialty equipment.
  • Prepare for scheduled endoscopic procedures, ensuring that necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
  • Assist in transportation of patients, via wheelchair or stretcher, within the department and hospital when necessary.
  • Verify patient identity and assist with lifting and positioning of patients for endoscopy procedures.
  • Observe patient condition while in the procedure room and report any changes to the RN, anesthesia personnel, or physician.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment, ensuring equipment and supplies are stored securely.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six to twelve months of related work experience in a hospital or patient care setting.
  • Completion of Anatomy and Physiology preferred.
