Role Summary:

INTRODUCTION:

We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer for our Anesthesia Services division, which is part of our Hospital-Based Physician Services (HBP). This role requires residency in the Nashville area and involves approximately 50% travel. The CMO will report directly to the President of Anesthesia Services.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Chief Medical Officer for Anesthesia Services plays a pivotal role in the senior executive team, responsible for shaping and leading clinical and quality initiatives, ensuring compliance and optimal outcomes across the organization.

As the leader of quality initiatives and clinical services within Anesthesia, the CMO will spearhead the development, execution, and monitoring of strategies aimed at enhancing patient care. This position will collaborate with various internal and external experts to adopt best practices that align with organizational goals. The CMO will also coordinate with HCA's Clinical Services Group, Strategic Resources Group, Quality Department, Clinical Informatics, and other relevant internal initiatives.

In collaboration with Group, Division, and facility leadership, this individual will provide high-level guidance and consultation to HCA leaders and other executives regarding Anesthesia services.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of ten years in a leadership role such as Chief Medical Officer or Medical Director within a complex healthcare environment, with a focus on quality and performance improvement.
  • Proven track record of clinical practice with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Expertise in developing service line dashboards and scorecards based on established quality metrics.
  • Ability to design clinical pathways and processes to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Experience in establishing peer review mechanisms with educational feedback for clinicians.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Regular engagement with Division and facility administration, medical directors, and key stakeholders to provide updates on program performance and enhance integration.
  • Familiarity with quality reporting systems.
  • Understanding of hospital and physician compensation frameworks.
  • Experience in designing clinical processes and performance indicators.
  • Service-oriented approach towards business partners.
  • Demonstrated success in a matrixed environment where influence is key.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with Group Presidents, HCA Physician Services Group leadership, Division Presidents, and other executive roles.
  • Collaboration with Compliance, Human Resources, Business Development, and Legal Operations Counsel as necessary.
