Job Description:

As a Patient Access Associate I / Registration Specialist at Intermountain Healthcare, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration process for patients across multiple service lines. Your primary responsibility will be to collect and verify all necessary demographic, financial, and clinical information from patients or their representatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Register patients accurately and efficiently, ensuring all required demographic data is entered into the registration system.
  • Verify information on patient accounts to determine insurance coordination of benefits, pre-certification/prior-authorization, and Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) questionnaire completion when applicable.
  • Screen for and process non-covered services and waiver of liability (ABN) through automated screening at time of service.
  • Inform self-pay patients of liability due, prepayment requirements, and coordinate screening of alternate funding sources if applicable.
  • Prepare estimates of procedures, calculate advance payment requirements, and post all payments in the system.
  • Document patient account notes for all interactions/transactions and maintain departmental and/or individual work queues and reports as required.
  • Escalate account issues that cannot be resolved and update the emergency department room tracking system.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the hospitality or service industry, preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing. Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment. May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Work Schedule:

20 hours per week.
