Job Summary

This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of equipment operation, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Prevent plant breakdowns by performing planned preventive maintenance on conveying systems, power transmissions, and other power-driven rotating equipment.
  • Communicate equipment issues and resolution to operators.
  • Work in extreme environments that are often dirty.
  • Repair or coordinate repair of worn or defective machinery or equipment; test machines to ensure quality and rate of production meets specifications.
  • Perform extensive housekeeping duties and use a variety of small tools, hand-powered tools, and knives while complying with safety regulations.
  • Maintain necessary logs for daily equipment inspections to ensure risk of downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and advise Plant Maintenance Manager if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within standard repair times.
  • Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality and make service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Clean, inspect, and/or perform routine maintenance or minor repairs on recycling equipment, such as discs and belts to ensure proper functionality of MRF equipment.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services and perform any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, progressive technician training, 1-5 years experience diagnosing and repairing equipment, a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment, and be legally eligible to work in the US. It is expected that the candidate is at least 18 years of age, has the ability to work overtime when needed, and has the physical ability to lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

Excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
