Position Overview: The Facilities Operations Supervisor at Hunger Mountain Co-op is a key full-time role that reports directly to the General Manager.

Core Responsibilities: This position is pivotal in ensuring the effective management of the Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving departments, guaranteeing that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient manner. The supervisor will oversee the daily operations of these departments and the personnel involved.

  • Daily Operations Management: Oversee the daily activities of facilities, including delegating or completing maintenance requests for the building and surrounding areas.
  • Cleanliness and Safety Monitoring: Assist various departments in achieving cleanliness objectives by ensuring the safety and tidiness of both interior and exterior spaces, including offices, meeting rooms, and parking areas.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Supervise the upkeep of the building, equipment, mechanical systems, and grounds.
  • Issue Response: Address facility-related concerns promptly and conduct routine maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Supply Coordination: Manage the ordering of equipment and store supplies efficiently.
  • Repair Management: Arrange for necessary repairs/services and communicate pertinent information to the relevant staff.
  • Vendor Liaison: Act as the point of contact with service providers by scheduling regular inspections and emergency repairs.

Contract Management: Engage and supervise all external contractors for facility-related projects.

  • Weather Preparedness: Prepare facilities for varying weather conditions and ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise staff in the Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving departments in accordance with Co-op policies.
  • Staff Scheduling: Organize staff hours based on the needs of the Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving departments.
  • Payroll Review: Review timecards and submit them for payroll processing for all relevant staff.
  • Communication Facilitation: Ensure effective communication within the Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving departments and across the organization.
  • Staff Development: Foster the development of Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving department staff and conduct performance evaluations.

Goods Receiving Oversight: Supervise the receipt of goods and services into the store and participate in the receiving process as needed.

  • Work Problem Resolution: Administer procedures for resolving work-related issues for Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving staff as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all staff in the Facilities & Maintenance and Receiving departments adhere to health codes, safety protocols, and cleaning schedules.

  • Senior Management Participation: Serve as a member of the Senior Management team.
