About the Role

We are seeking an experienced public health manager to oversee the General Infectious Disease Epidemiology section within the Ohio Department of Health's Bureau of Infectious Diseases. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and managing all administrative aspects of general infectious disease epidemiology, including developing statewide policies and procedures, assisting with grant proposals, and reviewing section policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement statewide policies and procedures for general infectious disease epidemiology
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and monitor program budgets
  • Review and establish procedures for data release, data security, and staff management and development
  • Build and maintain liaisons with BID program areas, ODH bureaus, other state agencies, and federal agencies
  • Coordinate with public health department staff, healthcare providers, and others to obtain investigation/surveillance information and share findings
  • Supervise junior managers and front-line staff
  • Manage the ODH Infectious Disease On-Call rotation, including training and scheduling staff
Requirements
  • Completion of a graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine
  • 24 months of experience in epidemiology investigation with a local or federal health agency, including 12 months of experience in supervisory principles/techniques or performing duties comparable to those of an Epidemiology Investigation Supervisor
  • 1 course in budgeting or 3 months of experience in preparing budgets for an operational unit
  • 6 months of experience as an Epidemiology Investigation Supervisor
