About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiology Investigator 2 to join our team at the Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Medical Services. As an Epidemiology Investigator 2, you will play a critical role in investigating, collecting, and analyzing data related to endemic or epidemic situations of infections, chronic diseases, or other health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and analyze data to identify trends and patterns related to emergency medical services, trauma care, and the statewide trauma system.
  • Develop and implement statistical analysis and methods using software packages such as STATA, SAS, SPSS, and Tableau.
  • Extract, receive, and review electronic data submitted to the EMS Incident Reporting System (EMSIRS), the Ohio Trauma Registry (OTR), and workforce census data.
  • Provide research and support to the Quality Assurance (QA) program and administrator for the development, implementation, and monitoring of QA initiatives.
  • Identify reporting errors and missing data, and research best practices to improve overall reporting accuracy and data fidelity.
Requirements
  • Completion of a graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine.
  • 3 courses or 9 months of experience in the use of statistical computer software packages.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in epidemiology, physiology, statistics, human relations, and interviewing.
  • 6 months of experience working in research or a specific laboratory identifying or researching infectious or chronic diseases and/or related environmental health problems.
