Faculty Position in Cancer Research

Job Summary

The Georgia Cancer Center (GCC) at Augusta University is actively seeking three faculty members at various academic ranks: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The ideal candidates will possess expertise in fundamental or translational cancer research that aligns with our strengths in tumor biology, genetics, and immunology.

Tenure Status
The tenure status will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidates and will be confirmed in the final offer along with position expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Research
- Develop and enhance a competitive and innovative research program in your area of expertise.
- Collaborate with fellow researchers within the Georgia Cancer Center, Augusta University, and other institutions.
- Establish nationally and internationally recognized scholarly activities, including regular publication of original scientific reports in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and presentations at relevant scientific conferences.
- Actively seek and secure peer-reviewed grants from sources such as the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Department of Defense (DOD). It is expected that candidates will maintain consistent funding for cancer-related research.

Teaching
- Engage actively in teaching activities, including mentoring and advising PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, and medical students.
- Participate in educational conferences and activities within the Cancer Center and Department of Medicine.

Service
- Serve on relevant committees within the Cancer Center and Augusta University, with annual reviews of these responsibilities.

Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or MD or equivalent.
- Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
- Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable experience.
- Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is full-time and year-round. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to availability of funds. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement plans, and tuition waiver options.
