Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Junior CADD GIS Technician is a professional role designed for individuals with 3-5 years of relevant experience. This position involves engaging in various Cartography projects under the guidance of seasoned professionals. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities, along with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate both a broad and deep understanding of the field, enabling them to work independently with minimal supervision after receiving training in our systems. Adaptability to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment is essential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creation of environmental inventory maps, site plans, and graphics for permits and reports.
  • Timely preparation of customized mapping solutions.
  • Implementation and upkeep of GIS databases.
  • Data entry, processing, and linking of datasets.
  • Collaboration with clients to obtain and share digital information.
  • Participation in both team-oriented and independent projects.
  • Review of discipline-specific drawings and documentation.
  • Verification that drawings align with project requirements and client specifications.
  • Ensuring clarity, completeness, and accuracy of all drawings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 3-5 years of experience in drafting, design, CADD, or GIS.
  • Proficiency in Esri ARCGIS and Autodesk AutoCAD software.
  • Ability to utilize and import raster and vector data, including digital orthophotos and geographic information system data.
  • Background in civil design, Cartography, and Geography.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and related applications.
  • Capability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet various deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in data analysis and supporting management functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree from an accredited two-year institution.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited four-year institution is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Certificates from ESRI are advantageous.
  • GISPs certification (with examination) is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This role may require occasional fieldwork, exposing the employee to outdoor weather conditions. Frequent and prolonged use of computers is necessary, along with the potential for lifting items up to 25 pounds.
