Position Summary:
Responsible for the processing and distribution of routine and specialized medical and surgical supplies and instruments essential for patient care. This role involves cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and packaging medical and surgical instrument trays.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assemble instrument baskets, basin sets, and equipment using designated checklists in preparation for sterilization.
2. Prepare sets of supplies and instruments for various clinical applications, ensuring cleanliness and operational functionality.
3. Conduct decontamination, disinfection, and thorough cleaning of supplies, instruments, and equipment utilized in multiple procedures.
4. Distribute instruments, equipment, and supplies to designated areas.
5. Monitor and maintain sufficient inventory levels of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
6. Oversee equipment functionality, performing minor repairs and notifying appropriate personnel for major repairs.
7. Exhibit proficiency in the reprocessing and maintenance of endoscopes and related equipment, adhering to high-level disinfection policies and manufacturer guidelines. Maintain equipment such as scope washers and monitor detergent levels.
8. Interact with equipment according to manufacturer instructions, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of instrument and equipment protocols.
9. Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policies.
10. Maintain necessary supplies for cleaning and reprocessing, effectively communicating equipment issues and repair needs.
11. Accurately document data in relevant logs.


Additional Information

Education Requirements:
● High School diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification is required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience is necessary.
● If located at specific medical centers, nine months of experience as a sterile technician is required.
● Graduation from a sterile processing program negates the experience requirement.
