Role Overview

The Senior Service Technician will play a crucial role in enhancing the customer experience at our service facilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise alongside exceptional customer service skills. You will collaborate daily with internal partners to address service requirements and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle and Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This position demands a dynamic leader who excels in communication and fosters cross-functional collaboration while promoting a culture of continuous improvement to support both Service teams and customers. Success in this role requires a customer-centric approach, the ability to navigate unpredictable environments, and a creative, adaptable mindset. Experience in automotive services, process optimization, and escalation management is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in supporting pre-production vehicle assembly, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Travel to various locations to provide support until the local Service Center is operational.
  • Operate remotely until the local service center is established, if necessary.
  • Adhere to Rivian repair protocols efficiently while ensuring quality and safety.
  • Conduct complex diagnostics, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles.
  • Perform vehicle repairs in non-service center environments.
  • Execute road tests on vehicles to verify repair quality.
  • Manage parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.
  • Stay current with technical skills and required training.
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate expense reporting as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Foster a collaborative spirit in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment.
  • Provide field service support to enhance the Service organization.
  • Exhibit professionalism in customer-facing interactions.
  • Additional travel for plant support may be required based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited automotive repair institution preferred.
  • Experience in leadership, mentorship, and team influence preferred.
  • Five or more years of automotive experience preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience with vehicle high voltage systems and diagnostics preferred.
  • Proficient in using computers in Windows or Mac environments.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools (e.g., PICO-Scope, PCAN, Kavaser Memorator).
  • Extensive background in comprehensive diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to operate non-commercial trucks and trailers preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, as needed.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • No driving-related suspensions or revocations within the last three to five years.
  • Experience in parts management and billing preferred.
  • Familiarity with work order management systems, including repair documentation.
  • Experience in start-up environments preferred.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Physical exertion may be required for tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands for tool operation, data entry, and communication.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as regulations and maintenance instructions.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Availability for a regular schedule of 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to accurately document repairs completed and in progress.
