REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of hands-on experience with modern agricultural machinery, particularly in dairy and silage/forage operations.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of GPS, autosteer systems, and precision agriculture techniques.
  • Commitment to working extended hours during peak agricultural seasons.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Hansen Agri-Placement is seeking a skilled Agricultural Equipment Technician for a client located in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

The technician will be tasked with the daily upkeep and repair of farm machinery. The facility boasts excellent maintenance areas and workshop capabilities. We require a dedicated technician with experience in both diesel and gasoline engine repairs, as well as familiarity with small engines, agricultural equipment, and heavy machinery. Proficiency in brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, welding, and fabrication is mandatory.

The technician will also be responsible for sourcing parts and managing inventory, along with planning equipment maintenance during the off-season.

We are looking for a candidate who can interpret service and parts manuals and possesses strong overall mechanical skills.

This role involves working with equipment from planting through silage harvest, requiring experience with large, modern agricultural machinery and a technical mindset open to innovation.

This position is closely related to dairy feed management and will oversee the maintenance and servicing of equipment to ensure the efficient operation of a 700-cow dairy farm.

The operation spans over 2000 acres of land.

The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, be prepared for long hours during peak seasons, and possess common sense alongside solid agricultural production experience.
