Job Overview

Harris & Associates is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our dynamic Program & Construction Management team in Los Angeles, California. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day efforts related to program management of K-14 based projects, including programming, planning, design, procurement, construction, and asset management projects for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all facets of the pre-construction, bid and award, construction, and close-out phase of assigned projects.
  • Review and submit comments on pre-construction documents to designers as necessary.
  • Plan, organize, and prepare reports to upper management on project status and progress.
  • Coordinate with public agencies and district staff to ensure compliance with off-site work requirements.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules to meet district qualitative standards.
  • Monitor project budget and ensure accurate reflection of project status and progress.
  • Manage daily contractor activities, review construction schedules and submittals, and coordinate responses to contractor inquiries.
  • Review substitution submittals to ensure compliance with specifications and district requirements.
  • Negotiate contractor change order proposals to achieve fair and reasonable prices.
  • Administer provisions of professional service agreements between architects and the district.
  • Coordinate district delivery of related fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Monitor and manage project close-out, including certification with the Division of State Architects and financial close-out.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in construction and/or project management of commercial and/or public/educational facility construction.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Design build experience in public/educational facility construction.
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
  • Safety and OSHA Safety Regulations (OSHA 30 minimum).
  • Experience managing complex projects with construction values in excess of $10M.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $95K-115K, dependent on experience and expertise. Harris & Associates offers competitive salaries and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
