About the Role: The Regional Fleet Maintenance Leader is tasked with overseeing and coordinating maintenance operations for various bus, paratransit, and shuttle services within a specified region. This position is critical in ensuring the utmost standards of vehicle safety, dependability, and performance while managing maintenance costs and adhering to regulatory standards. The Regional Fleet Maintenance Leader will guide a team of maintenance managers and technicians, cultivating a culture of safety, efficiency, continuous improvement, and engagement. Key collaborators include Regional Senior Management and General Managers at various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Direct and oversee the regional maintenance team, including maintenance managers and technicians. Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- KPI Accountability: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and enhance maintenance efficiency, vehicle reliability, safety compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance operations adhere to safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective measures as necessary.
- Fleet Management: Supervise the maintenance and repair of the bus fleet, ensuring optimal vehicle availability and performance. Implement preventive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and prolong vehicle lifespan.
- Budget Management: Develop and oversee the regional maintenance budget, ensuring financial efficiency and cost control. Identify opportunities for savings and process enhancements.
- Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with external service providers and suppliers. Negotiate contracts and ensure the quality of outsourced maintenance services.
- Training & Development: Develop training initiatives to improve the skills and knowledge of the maintenance team. Ensure all team members are current with the latest maintenance practices and safety protocols.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular updates on maintenance performance, KPIs, and budget status to senior management.
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as required.
- Safety & Reliability: Create and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and procedures.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
Required: A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive and transit equipment, with experience in managing teams and projects.

Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance practices for public transportation vehicles.
- Ability to lead change and drive performance improvements through matrixed reporting structures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to interpret and implement safety rules, operating manuals, and procedures.
- Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with JDE, Tango, Hexagon, and RTA.
Travel may be required outside of the immediate area.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Successful completion of drug testing and background checks is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible shifts as needed.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, and communicate.
- Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions.
- Majority of work is performed in an office or cubicle setting.
