Position Overview

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Family Medicine team in a full-time capacity. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to our patients and supporting our healthcare providers.

Location: Family Medicine Abbeyville, Lancaster, PA

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 9 PM, Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, Saturday from 8 AM to 12 PM, with one evening shift weekly and a rotating Saturday schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited body (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR). If not currently certified, completion of a Medical Assistant training program is required prior to employment, with certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire.
  • For regional roles, a valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary or specialty care setting.
Essential Responsibilities:

Qualified candidates will be expected to perform the following duties:
  • Prepare patients for their appointments using established protocols.
  • Administer prescribed injections and provide necessary observations to healthcare providers.
  • Prepare and dispense medications as directed by the provider, adhering to regulations.
  • Assist providers with various medical procedures and examinations.
  • Conduct Point of Care Testing, including tests for hearing, flu, urine, and strep.
  • Manage wound care, including suture removal and dressing changes.
  • Provide clinical guidance to patients via phone or electronic communication, following established protocols.
  • Authorize prescription refills as directed by the provider.
  • Assist in tracking and monitoring test results.
  • Ensure exam rooms are well-stocked and sanitized after each patient visit.
  • Support proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Facilitate care coordination among specialists and manage transitions of care.
  • Assist with referrals, patient education, and community resource coordination.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and care quality.
  • Participate in daily team meetings with healthcare providers.
  • Act as a patient experience advocate, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Handle patient information confidentially in accordance with privacy policies.
  • For regional roles, occasional travel to various sites may be required.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform various front office tasks as needed.
