Job Summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Regional Support Office in a full-time capacity.

WORK LOCATION: Regional Support Office

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with no weekend or holiday shifts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory.
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited body (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR). If not currently certified, candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant training program prior to employment and obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for regional positions.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary or specialty care setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified candidates will be expected to perform the following tasks:
  • Prepare patients for appointments using established rooming standards.
  • Administer injections as directed by the healthcare provider and according to practice protocols.
  • Prepare and dispense medications as prescribed, adhering to all relevant regulations.
  • Assist providers with various procedures and examinations as required.
  • Conduct Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Change dressings and remove sutures as necessary.
  • Provide clinical guidance via phone or electronic communication in line with established protocols.
  • Authorize prescription refills as instructed by the provider.
  • Assist in tracking tests and monitoring overdue results.
  • Ensure exam rooms are well-stocked and sanitized after each patient visit.
  • Support proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Facilitate care coordination among specialists and transitions of care.
  • Assist with referrals, education, and community resource coordination.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and care quality.
  • Participate in daily team meetings with the provider.
  • Act as a patient experience advocate, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Handle patient information confidentially, following privacy policies.
  • Regional travel may be required for operational support.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Secondary duties may include:
  • Performing various front office tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
