Job Summary
Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Regional Support Office in a full-time capacity.

Location: Regional Support Office

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with no weekends or holidays required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory.
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited organization (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR). If not currently certified, completion of a Medical Assistant training program is required prior to employment, with certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for regional positions.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary or specialty care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates should be able to perform the following essential functions:
  • Prepare patients for appointments using established rooming standards.
  • Administer injections as directed by the healthcare provider, adhering to practice protocols.
  • Prepare and dispense medications as prescribed, following federal and state regulations.
  • Assist providers with various procedures and examinations as required.
  • Conduct Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Manage wound care, including suture removal and dressing changes.
  • Provide clinical guidance via phone or electronic communication in accordance with established protocols.
  • Authorize prescription refills as instructed by the provider.
  • Assist in tracking tests and monitoring overdue results.
  • Ensure exam rooms are well-stocked and sanitized after each patient visit.
  • Engage in proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Coordinate care among specialists and facilitate transitions of care.
  • Support referral coordination, education, and access to community resources.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving patient experience and care quality.
  • Engage in daily team meetings with the provider.
  • Act as a patient experience advocate, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Handle patient information confidentially, in line with privacy policies.
  • Regional travel may be required for certain positions.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform various front office tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
