Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment, adhering to aseptic surgical techniques and protocols.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff with various procedures, including preparing and draping the surgical area, providing a sterile field, and passing instruments and supplies.
  • Operate and maintain various types of equipment used in the operating room, including tables, cameras, microscopes, and instrument pans.
  • Transport patients and equipment, and maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform other physical demands of the job.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to various hazards, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids. The successful candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns, and maintain a high level of physical stamina throughout the work shift.
