Job Summary

The Clinical Coordinator, Respiratory Care Specialist will play a crucial role in the daily operation of the Respiratory & Pulmonary Diagnostic Services department at Keck Medicine of USC. This position will be responsible for facilitating the clinical aspects of departmental operations in collaboration with the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement staff training and education programs to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to create and maintain clinical and operational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with evaluations and discipline of departmental staff, and act as a manager in the absence of the leadership team.
  • Provide support to CF patients, their families, and the Respiratory Therapy team.
  • Develop and implement airway clearance education programs for patients.
  • Perform frequent respiratory care management evaluations of CF patients and recommend therapy options.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and medical staff to implement the case management system and improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient education in all care settings and develop patient education materials.
  • Attend and participate in CF clinics, interdisciplinary team rounds, research meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Req Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care, Health Care Management, or related field.
  • Req Associate's degree in Respiratory Care.
  • Req 3 years of experience as a respiratory therapist.
  • Req Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Req Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Req Must have a strong understanding of respiratory equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pref 1 year of experience as a respiratory therapist in CF care.
  • Pref Strong computer skills.
  • Pref Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (NBRC) (CPFT or RPFT).
  • Pref Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Req Respiratory Care Practitioner - RCP (CA DCA).
  • Req Registered Respiratory Therapist - RRT (NBRC).
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
