This role serves as a vital resource for the electrical engineering aspects of facilities initiatives. Responsibilities include providing design, analytical, and field engineering support for projects and Physical Facilities programs. A successful candidate will be an EIT or PE licensed engineer adept at offering insights on crucial project decisions. This individual is expected to operate independently with minimal supervision, leveraging extensive experience and training to address complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide the execution of electrical project scope to ensure alignment with university standards and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with all project team members throughout the phases of planning, design, construction, and warranty.
  • Work alongside project managers to resolve engineering challenges on projects.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on engineering work produced by external architectural and engineering firms.
  • Offer expert post-project facility engineering consultation.
  • Deliver specialized electrical project engineering support through comprehensive review, research, analysis, design, communication, coordination, and field observation activities.

This department is responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of capital construction projects, working in partnership with architects, engineers, contractors, and other internal departments to fulfill the needs of the campus community. The engineering group within Capital Asset Management consists of dynamic experts providing project engineering, facilities engineering, consultation, and condition assessment services.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology with a focus on electrical systems.
  • Passed FE exam/EIT certification.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in electrical engineering.
  • A valid driver's license in the US or Canada.
Essential Skills:
  • Experience in design, analysis, condition assessment, project engineering, and facilities engineering related to building electrical systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, planning techniques, and materials used in engineering operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Apply engineering principles to practical challenges; utilize engineering tools and software; interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Translate abstract concepts into actionable solutions.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Exhibit sound engineering judgment and leadership to formulate well-reasoned solutions.
    • Independently manage activities of moderate complexity with minimal oversight.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Indiana PE license is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical metering, arc flash analysis, short circuit coordination studies, and lighting and power design.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient design concepts.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation drafting.
