Fabrication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Operator 4 to join our team at Southern States, LLC. As a Fabrication Operator 4, you will be responsible for planning and performing various fabrication operations using contact benders, vibrating equipment, punch presses, foot shears, soldering machines, and drill presses to drill, bend, shear, punch, solder, and clean work pieces to fabrication drawing specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, shop notes, and tooling instructions to determine specifications such as hole locations and sizes, lengths of cuts, bend lengths, bend angles, and types of cleaning and gauging.
- Communicate with team leaders to determine the proper method to complete assigned jobs.
- Operate contact benders, vibrating equipment, punch presses, foot shears, soldering machines, and drill presses to perform various fabrication operations.
- Verify proper contact bends by referencing blueprints.
- Assemble contacts by pressing rivets into parts and soldering with induction machines.
- Make shunts using tape measures, foot shears, band saws, tin pots, and hammers.
- Grind, file, and sand aluminum or steel parts to meet print specifications.
- Clean weld spatter from welded assemblies.
- Clean, polish, and buff silver brazed parts to print specifications.
- Set contacts to print specifications using gauges and hand tools.
- Sandblast parts using handheld hoses with foot pedals or hand levers to control the flow of sand.
- Maintain equipment and working areas in clean and orderly conditions.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mathematical skills: ability to add and subtract whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to use simple mathematical devices, such as calculators, scales, measuring tapes, etc.
- WorkKeys ACT Score (Applied Math – 3, Graphic Literacy – 4, Workplace Observation – 3).
