Job Overview

Great Lakes Wine & Spirits is a dynamic and expanding company looking for a Regional Sales Leader to manage a team of Sales Representatives across various territories.


Key Responsibilities

The Regional Sales Leader is tasked with achieving the company's sales targets and account goals through effective management of the Sales Representatives in their region. As the team captain, the Regional Sales Leader is expected to guide the team and will be responsible for strategizing, planning, and overseeing the activities of their Sales Representatives to ensure that all company objectives and responsibilities are met in their region. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Increase regional revenue compared to the previous year and meet company growth targets.
  • Meet monthly goals for priority products, specific initiatives, and qualitative objectives.
  • Perform at or above the company’s minimum standards for distribution, placement, and promotional displays in the assigned region.
  • Establish strong business relationships with key decision-makers in accounts throughout the region.
  • Maintain comprehensive product knowledge of GLWAS offerings.
  • Exhibit understanding of market trends, customer needs, and product categories.
  • Create sales and delivery reports that provide metrics to enhance account performance and Sales Representative effectiveness.
  • Manage account responsibilities during staff shortages as necessary.
  • Conduct staff training sessions, promotional events, and presentations as required.
  • Plan and execute supplier evaluations.
  • Oversee resets and survey preparations as needed.

As the Regional Sales Leader, you will also oversee administrative and personnel management tasks. These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the business plan and tracking for the entire sales region.
  • Submit all reports and data as requested by upper management in a timely and organized manner.
  • Follow hiring, disciplinary, and managerial protocols as instructed.
  • Coach team members to plan, prepare, and deliver effective, fact-based, and professional sales presentations.
  • Train team members to build professional relationships, capitalize on account opportunities, and effectively execute business objectives while enhancing overall GLWAS market share.
  • Ensure the team adheres to both 'on' and 'off' premise 'Standards of Performance' and 'Merchandising Principles' as outlined in company training programs.
  • Allocate appropriate time and resources to thoroughly train and develop team members and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Engage with the team consistently to ensure needs are met, routes are effectively managed, accounts are serviced regularly, and goals are communicated clearly.
  • Oversee divisional processes and reporting procedures, including daily reports, pre-plans, surveys, and any other sales metrics used to enhance overall sales and GLWAS market share.
  • Assist team members in overcoming sales and service challenges as they arise.
  • Conduct monthly 'Work-With' sessions for all team members, focusing on specific training topics.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves fieldwork, requiring daily travel in various weather conditions. Time will also be spent in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment. The work environment will vary based on account visits.


This position requires prolonged periods of sitting while traveling; the employee will intermittently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift, carry, and/or move up to 55 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds of force on a cart; frequent ascension and descension of stairs are also required.


Work Schedule

The Regional Sales Leader is a full-time position. Workdays and hours will vary based on business requirements, with frequent evenings and weekends expected.


Compensation & Benefits

  • $68,000 Base Salary plus Performance Bonus Structure

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
    • Preferred educational background in sales or a related field
    • 4-year degree or 4 years of sales experience (preferred)
  • 1 year of managerial experience (preferred)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Skype)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Additional Requirements

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee policy manual and any applicable contracts, signed agreements, and work rules.
  • Cooperate with all management and staff of GLWAS.
  • Comply with all relevant rules and regulations as they apply to the position.
  • Use alcohol responsibly in relation to business activities.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings including a Physical Evaluation, 10-Panel Drug Screen, Agility Test, and Full Background Check including criminal record.
  • Maintain a safe driving record.
