About the Position:

The IT Support Technician operates under the guidance of the Director of Technology and Security, providing essential technical support to users including faculty and staff. Responsibilities encompass classroom assistance and technical support for educational environments and staff devices. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Director of Technology and Security.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties regularly:

Install software, troubleshoot applications, and configure computers and peripherals. Diagnose and resolve both basic and advanced software and hardware issues; Support audiovisual systems, printers, projectors, and other technical equipment. Set up, upgrade, troubleshoot, and image computer systems operating on Windows 10/11 and macOS; Understand computer systems, mobile devices, and other technical infrastructures; Install, configure, and maintain classroom technologies including projectors, control panels, TVs, and Apple devices such as iPads, iPhones, and Apple TVs; Install, replace, and configure computer hardware components such as storage drives, RAM, expansion cards, motherboards, processors, displays, and peripherals; Create and manage user accounts and permissions, while enforcing security best practices; and Troubleshoot and report network connectivity issues. Facilitate network access for users and install applications for file sharing, cloud computing, and security.

Required Qualifications:

Three years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Strong interpersonal skills and advanced knowledge of Windows and Apple Mac platforms; Proven experience servicing Mac OS systems with Intel and new silicon chips; Experience setting up Apple computers; Proven experience servicing Windows 10 and 11 operating systems, including imaging Windows computers; Experience installing and maintaining audiovisual systems for educational settings; Help Desk experience in a computer support role; and At least 1 year of experience in Information Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in a computing field is preferred; Previous experience in managing computer labs, including JAMF registration and systems management and SCCM; Understanding of IT security concepts with a focus on information security and risk assessment, while enforcing security best practices; Familiarity with Web 2.0 applications and licensing agreements relevant to Higher Education; and Experience in a Higher Education environment.
