Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Rehabilitation Therapy Technician III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide essential support to our therapists and contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist therapists in the development and evaluation of treatment plans, including conducting functional skills assessments and monitoring treatment goals and objectives.
  • Implement treatment plans through hands-on methods, including direct contact instruction and training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to ensure continuity and follow-through of treatment plan objectives.
  • Monitor the implementation of program objectives by DSPs, gather data, and report to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of paperwork in program-related areas and collect data related to treatment plans.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, providing information regarding the results of functional skills assessments and response to interventions.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and skills in relevant therapeutic techniques, such as applied behavior analysis and sensory integration.
  • Ability to train staff in treatment methods and related areas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to assist in the development of treatment and support plans.
  • Ability to develop and maintain data collection systems.
  • Ability to utilize personal computers and relevant software.
  • General knowledge of ICF/IID regulations and state-supported living center policies and procedures.
  • Ability to meet the same physical requirements as those for direct contact staff positions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. The Rehabilitation Therapy Technician III will work under the general supervision of a Registered Therapist, Psychologist, or Vocational/Day Programming Supervisor with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This position is required to drive a state-owned vehicle.
