We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse I to join our team at the Department of Developmental Services. As a LPN I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community residential home setting.
Key Responsibilities- Implement individual health care plans, including charting vital signs, applying medical dressings, and administering medications as prescribed.
- Assist with daily maintenance, personal care, and other services outlined in the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
- Maintain accurate records and files, and initiate referrals for needed medical services.
- Communicate health issues to staff and update families/guardians as necessary.
- Order medications and maintain medical supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Initiate emergency medical procedures, including basic first aid and CPR.
- Provide training for direct support staff on equipment and treatments.
- Transport individuals to work, medical appointments, and other community engagements as needed.
- Current, active license to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain respectful relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Capacity to assist individuals with physical disabilities and/or limited mobility.
- Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods, and techniques.
- Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
The Department of Developmental Services is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully and meaningfully in their communities.
Pre-Hire ProcessRecommended candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, including a Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) Abuse Registry Search, criminal background check, and National Background Checks.
