Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse I to join our team at the Department of Developmental Services. As a LPN I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community residential home setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement individual health care plans, including charting vital signs, applying medical dressings, and administering medications as prescribed.
  • Assist with daily maintenance, personal care, and other services outlined in the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Maintain accurate records and files, and initiate referrals for needed medical services.
  • Communicate health issues to staff and update families/guardians as necessary.
  • Order medications and maintain medical supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Initiate emergency medical procedures, including basic first aid and CPR.
  • Provide training for direct support staff on equipment and treatments.
  • Transport individuals to work, medical appointments, and other community engagements as needed.
Requirements
  • Current, active license to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain respectful relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Capacity to assist individuals with physical disabilities and/or limited mobility.
  • Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods, and techniques.
  • Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
