Position Summary:
The Senior Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and executing daily accounting functions, which encompass financial reporting, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. This position is crucial for maintaining precise financial records, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and preparing comprehensive financial statements while actively engaging in the accounting workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and the preparation of adjusting journal entries.
- Develop and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to protect company assets and guarantee compliance with regulatory mandates.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and regulatory assessments.
- Analyze financial data and trends to pinpoint variances, opportunities, and risks, providing insights to senior management to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with department leaders to formulate financial plans and track performance against established targets.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, ensuring timely compliance and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting or finance roles, with a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience, including supervisory duties.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation.
- Experience with IFS and Adaptive (A Workday Product).
- Familiarity with union environments.
- General experience within the construction sector.
- Experience with progressive revenue recognition is highly desirable.
- Preference for candidates on Pacific Standard Time (PST) as this role primarily supports the West Coast operations, though remote candidates from other locations are welcome.
