Job Title: Maui Bus Safety and Training Manager

Job Summary:

The Maui Bus Safety and Training Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, training initiatives, and regulatory compliance strategies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees and passengers. This role requires a strong background in environmental and health safety, with expertise in transportation safety regulations and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety programs, training initiatives, and regulatory compliance strategies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Provide training and education to employees on safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to identify and address safety concerns and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, laws, and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address safety concerns and issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to employees on safety-related matters.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies and industry associations, to stay up-to-date on safety regulations and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental or safety management, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Undergraduate degree in environmental engineering, occupational safety, or related field.
  • Advanced certification in environmental, health, safety, or related field is a plus.
  • Completion of OSHA 511 and 501 courses.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for federal and state programs, process and program implementation strategies.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate performance metrics and outcomes and to constructively resolve challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead, motivate, and influence others towards change.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop and conduct training on complex topics in a concise manner, appropriate to the audience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with people at various levels of the organization and in a variety of functions.
  • Broad understanding of business issues, metrics, organizational linkages, and customer value.
  • Self-confident, ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner.

Working Conditions/Job Environment:

  • Must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Travel as needed to include flying or driving.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force on occasion.
  • Physical activities may include, but not limited to: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, smelling, and repetitive motions.
  • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The incumbent is subject to both internal and external environmental elements.
  • The worker may be subject to hazard including: A variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
