Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant Chief in the Office of Land Surveying. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the activities and work product of the unit's Project Managers, ensuring the successful delivery of capital construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the work of Project Managers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Review and approve project work scope and fee proposals, as well as monitor survey assignments and progress.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and manuals to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Coordinate with consultants and other agencies to ensure project-related tasks are progressing as scheduled and within budget.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and maintain capital projects status reports for Senior Management.
Requirements
  • A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience managing and/or inspecting one or more construction projects with a total cost of at least $.
  • One year of experience as described above, and a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology, or construction management.
  • One year of experience as described above, and a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect.
  • A combination of at least two years of experience as described above, and the education as described above to equal a total of five years of education and experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Five years of prior experience with contract management and land surveying.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and perform detailed work under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, and computer skills.
Additional Requirements
  • At the time of appointment, a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York is required.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
