OVERVIEW
The IT Senior Associate is responsible for executing advanced professional tasks in technology-focused areas. While the specific focus may differ, these associates typically engage in various activities related to programming, communication, technical assistance, and other functions as dictated by the needs of the Information Technology department. Responsibilities include diagnosing, assessing, managing, and resolving intricate projects. They possess significant autonomy for independent initiative and judgment and may take on leadership roles in complex initiatives or supervise a team.
IT Senior Associates are expected to exhibit expertise in one or more technology domains, demonstrate decision-making capabilities in relevant situations, and act as a resource in these fields. They may also influence decisions regarding IT policies and technical standards.
POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the CUNY Administrative Systems Manager, the IT Associate will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Manage and enhance various AWS services to provide efficient and scalable solutions;
- Assist in formulating a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy, including automated backups and failover mechanisms;
- Write and review code for web applications, primarily using HTML, XML, or JavaScript;
- Develop and refine secure web pages to meet evolving business requirements and integrate multimedia content;
- Provide ongoing support for multiple web properties;
- Maintain, expand, and scale the college's websites;
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding website direction and collaborate with web designers to ensure visual design alignment;
- Code and script applications;
- Conduct routine site audits and perform maintenance as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
- Ten years of relevant experience post-high school, which can be satisfied by one of the following: ten years of full-time work in a computer or technology-related role; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time experience; or a Bachelor's degree plus six years of full-time experience in a technology-related position
- Proficiency in the English language
- A valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license in New York State may be required for certain positions.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Required skills include proficiency in a comprehensive range of web development tools, specifically:
- .NET, C#, PHP, JAVA, HTML, CSS, WordPress CMS;
- Experience with PeopleSoft interfaces, particularly CUNYFirst ERP;
- API development;
- e-Commerce knowledge, SEO;
- SSL and PCI-Compliance coding;
- Experience in converting standard pages to responsive designs across various platforms and browsers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with JAVAScript, Django, SQL (JQuery, MS-SQL, MySQL)
- Experience with PLONE CMS;
- Knowledge of VoIP integration;
- Familiarity with CUNY-specific applications and services, including:
- BlackBoard LMS, BrightSpace LMS
- DegreeWorks, Raisers Edge, Visual Schedule Builder
- Campus Management (Hobson's Connect/Retain), HandShake, Qualtrix Survey, Library EZproxy
- Oracle Identity Manager, Shibboleth, LDAP, and MS-OFFICE365
- Understanding of SEO practices.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- High-level programming and solution-oriented skills.
- Capability to troubleshoot and enhance web pages for security and responsiveness.
- Understanding of network diagnostics and analytical tools.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to apply them effectively.
COMPENSATION
Salary: $91,298
BENEFITS
CUNY provides a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet specific work hour criteria to qualify for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet eligibility criteria.
