Manure Management Technician II

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Manure Management Technician II is responsible for executing both minor and significant equipment repairs while assisting in the composting of manure generated from production facilities.

This role encompasses overseeing all aspects of manure drying, transportation, and storage throughout the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Request necessary safety equipment, materials, and parts from the designated procurement contact.
  • Maintain readiness for audits by regulatory bodies or clients by adhering to established procedures and ensuring all documentation is in order.
  • Input data accurately into DBF spreadsheets.
  • Ensure the security of poultry and the facility by keeping all access points secured against predators, adverse weather, and unauthorized individuals.
  • Conduct proper disposal of animal mortality through incineration.
  • Complete and document all preventative maintenance, special projects, and daily maintenance tasks promptly.
  • Perform manure removal duties efficiently.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks for compost facilities.
  • Safely operate necessary machinery, including skid loaders, and perform routine maintenance as required.
  • Understand and manage daily composting operations and protocols.
  • Maintain appropriate loading and compost turning schedules.
  • Oversee the organization and cleanliness of manure storage areas.
  • Conduct weekly inventories of compost materials.
  • Implement the manure management strategy effectively.
  • Obtain necessary licenses for specific job functions.
  • Perform pre-operation inspections on all vehicles and equipment, ensuring proper documentation is completed.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively.

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of experience in a production agricultural setting is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Ability to accurately track and document activities using appropriate forms.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • Skilled in operating tractors, skid loaders, and other essential farm machinery.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with agricultural operations is advantageous.
  • Able to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Consistent attendance with a flexible work schedule.
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to stand and walk continuously; perform gripping, grasping, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 10 pounds frequently; and sit, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent exposure to various environmental conditions.
