Director, Strategic Security Initiatives

The Atlantic Council seeks a seasoned professional to serve as Director of the Transatlantic Security Initiative, reporting to the Senior Director of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. This is a key leadership position that requires a strategic thinker with a track record of shaping the public debate and influencing US and allied policy.
Key Responsibilities- Intellectual Leadership: Develop and advance the intellectual and policy frameworks that drive the Atlantic Council's mission and programming through written work and speaking opportunities.
- Programmatic Design and Oversight: Design and implement programming to influence policy and impact the debate within the US, NATO, and allied governments on both sides of the Atlantic.
- Business Development: Contribute to programmatic ideas and help craft proposals for funding to generate financial support for new and existing lines of effort.
- Outreach and Communications: Represent the Atlantic Council externally with key stakeholders, including the administration, Congress, the diplomatic community, and foreign governments.
- Financial Management: Serve as a reliable steward of Atlantic Council funds, overseeing expenses and revenues, and ensuring program solvency.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Relevant work experience in foreign policy, national security, defense, the private sector, government, or a non-governmental organization.
- Impressive leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build non-partisan communities of influence around key strategic and policy priorities.
- Extensive experience in project management and a proven track record of business development success.
- An entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and project management.
- Superior writing and communication skills, with outstanding interpersonal skills to work well with all levels of experience and influence.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
- A team player with a can-do attitude and a passion for the Atlantic Council's mission.
