Executive Director, Public Affairs and Strategic Initiatives

The Executive Director, Public Affairs and Administration is a highly visible leadership role that advances BCBSA organizational and policy priorities by directing impactful strategic initiatives and driving internal, cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Develops and executes strategic plans to advance BCBSA's policy and business objectives.
- Public Affairs: Directs the planning and implementation of public affairs campaigns to drive federal policy solutions that support Blue business objectives.
- Relationship Building: Builds, strengthens, and expands relationships with external partners, including influential leaders, coalitions, and allies.
- Policy Communications: Develops and implements impactful communications resources for external audiences, including web content, blog posts, message guides, patient and plan stories, letters, and newsletters.
- Team Management: Supervises and manages cross-functional teams to drive advocacy goals and support corporate/team objectives.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in political science, business, communications, marketing, or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 16 years of experience required.
- Experience: At least 12 years of work experience in politics, campaigns, coalitions, business, or organizational leadership. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 16 years of experience required.
- Skills: Collaborative team player, strong writing, editing, presentation, and interpersonal skills, understanding of leading health policy/regulatory issues, and experience in project and program management.
