Job Title: Special Education Program Administrator

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead the Student Support Services Division in the Southeast Region of Seattle Public Schools. As a Special Education Program Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration of services within the division, including budget development, fiscal control, staffing, program placement, and student assignment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership for program development and ensure the provision of a District-wide continuum of required services and placement options.
  • Design and implement assessment of District-wide program needs, research program-specific best practices, and appoint and lead program-specific research.
  • Prepare program placement proposals to establish new programs or move existing programs, and monitor the implementation of new programs.
  • Consult with principals and building staff to ensure programs are appropriately addressed in the Academic Achievement Plan, and work collaboratively with building staff to provide opportunities for students with disabilities to fully participate in academic, extracurricular, and community activities.
  • Supervise and evaluate Consulting Teachers, other certificated staff, and secretarial/clerical staff, and prepare building and program assignments for Consulting Teachers.
  • Develop and implement staff development programs, conduct monthly District-wide program/building staff meetings, and prepare annual Work Plans for assigned program areas.
  • Manage program budgets, provide technical assistance to buildings to ensure compliance with funding sources and District regulations, and monitor expenditures and implement fiscal control measures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal/state regulations and related jurisprudence, and provide technical assistance to building personnel on procedural guidelines, memoranda, and regulatory interpretations.
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience with lead or supervisory experience, or qualifying ESA experience.
  • Master's degree in Education (administration emphasis preferred) or a closely related field.
  • Valid Washington State Program Administrator or Principal Certificate required.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility required.
Clearances:
  • Criminal Justice fingerprinting and background check.
