Overview

The Communications Specialist plays a crucial role in shaping the reputation and brand identity of the organization. The specialist will engage in a variety of communication-related activities, including writing, editing, videography, photography, content creation, crisis management, and public relations. Building and nurturing relationships with employees, customers, government officials, media representatives, and the public is essential for effectively conveying the organization's narrative in a compelling manner.

The role demands a proactive approach to learning and utilizing communication tools and techniques, with a focus on modernizing the company's communication strategies and enhancing public and governmental relations. The Communications Specialist will serve as the organization's representative and must be prepared to communicate in real-time as required.



Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively creating and promoting the brand's identity.
  • Developing engaging communications across various media formats.
  • Managing communication strategies during crises.

  • Updating and modernizing the company website, intranet, and social media platforms.
  • Monitoring analytics and industry trends to assess communication effectiveness.
  • Curating a collection of multimedia assets, including photos, videos, and templates.
  • Cross-training in all communication functions.
  • Developing and executing project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, and resource needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specialization in Video Production and AV Equipment:

  • Conceptualizing, scripting, shooting, and editing video content that aligns with the organization's communication objectives.
  • Adapting video content for various platforms, ensuring optimal formats and specifications.
  • Managing AV equipment for live events, including camera setup and audio configuration.
  • Setting up and troubleshooting AV equipment for presentations and meetings.
  • Coordinating with external AV service providers for larger events.
  • Maintaining documentation on AV setups and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Providing training and support to team members on AV equipment usage.
  • Overseeing video production projects from inception to completion.
  • Conducting quality checks on audio and visual elements to uphold production standards.
  • Staying updated on video production trends and best practices.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong writing and editing capabilities.
  • Experience in photography and video production, including script writing and editing.
  • Proficiency in desktop publishing software and Adobe applications.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing crisis communications effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and interact positively with others.
  • Commitment to confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and solve problems independently or collaboratively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to analyze communication effectiveness using appropriate metrics.
