Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily hygiene and ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) for patients
  • Collect and document patient data in a timely and accurate manner
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Transcribe medical plans of care and maintain accurate records
  • Provide clerical support and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Requirements
  • Certified or at least one year of nursing assistant experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 90 days of hire
Work Environment

The Medical Unit Secretary will work in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit with a patient population ranging from less than one year of age to 99 years of age. The ideal candidate will be able to stand and work for up to 12 hours a day, lift with assistance up to 250 lbs, and communicate effectively in English verbally and legibly.

Performance Standards
  • Assist with data collection and organization
  • Identify and report problems/needs, and perform interventions consistent with identified problems as directed by the nurse
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care
  • Assist with treatments, procedures, and equipment as needed
  • Transcribe medical plans of care and provide clerical support
  • Document accurately and timely
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for patients and families
