Position Overview:


Under the guidance of the NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) Training Manager and designated General Manager, you will complete the Management in Training (MIT) curriculum and fulfill on-the-job training requirements.

Develop the necessary technical and operational skills to thrive as a General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in training and operational tasks at assigned NHG lodging facilities, including Navy Gateway Inns & Suites and Navy Lodges.
Additional training opportunities may require travel to other locations.

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of hospitality operations through job shadowing and hands-on training across various departments and roles.
  • Complete assignments by learning and applying relevant systems, tools, and software.
  • Prepare and submit regular MIT progress reports to the Training Manager.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty as assigned.
  • Conduct inspections of guest accommodations, communal areas, workspaces, and storage areas to ensure adherence to NHG standards.
Identify shortcomings and implement suitable corrective actions.
Follow up to ensure issues are resolved.

  • Responsible for enforcing NHG policies and procedures as outlined.
  • Ensure adequate staffing across all areas of responsibility.
Assess the performance of subordinate staff.
Report any deficiencies or concerns to the General Manager.

  • Collaborate with department supervisors to plan, execute, and document necessary training.
  • Assist team members in addressing job-related challenges and personnel issues.
  • Foster communication and motivation among associates.
  • Review and analyze various operational reports and statistical data to complete required management documentation.
  • Support the General Manager in collecting and assessing data to prepare and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with NHG.
  • May represent the General Manager in meetings during their absence.
  • Maintain communication with NEXCOM and other entities, vendors, and suppliers to ensure adequate service and supply levels.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and address any complaints.
  • Ensure proper management of operational records and files.
Guarantee compliance with all safety, fire, and sanitation regulations to protect guests and staff.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Relocation based on company needs will be required upon completion of the MIT program.
Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

A two or four-year bachelor's degree in Hospitality or Hotel/Motel Management or Business Administration is preferred.

OR
A minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory or management role within a Hotel, Motel, or similar establishments (such as residential, resort, Airbnb, timeshare, vacation rental, serviced apartments, etc.)

An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides professional Hotel/Motel Management knowledge is acceptable.

Current or former Federal Government Retail management experience may be considered in lieu of hospitality experience.
