Position Overview
You will be appointed as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) within the INFORMATION SERVICES (N6) DIVISION of COMMANDER, NAVY INSTALLATIONS.

Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve implementing modifications in an information technology (IT) program to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations and organizational structure. You will be tasked with developing an information assurance (IA) program aimed at enhancing the reliability and functionality of systems within the organization.

Additionally, you will oversee the configuration of information technology (IT) systems, including network servers, operating systems, and storage applications, to meet the IT needs of the organization. You will evaluate the effectiveness of the IT program to identify necessary improvements or modifications and prepare configuration status reports for senior management review.

Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This specialized experience should showcase proficiency in the following areas:

  • Attention to Detail: You should be meticulous in your work, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Customer Service: You will engage with clients and customers to assess their needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Oral Communication: You must be able to convey information clearly and effectively to various audiences.
  • Problem Solving: You should possess the ability to identify issues, assess information accuracy, and make sound recommendations.

Experience in IT:
Your IT-related experience should include reviewing your own work for accuracy, evaluating new IT tools to meet customer needs, briefing senior leaders on IT policies, and diagnosing network system failures.

In addition to the competencies listed above, you should have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, performing duties such as:

  • Writing and revising Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation in a structured format.
  • Monitoring the configuration management process for local systems and networks.
  • Assisting in ensuring compliance with established IT security policies.
  • Staying updated on changes in IT industry standards and making recommendations for compliance.

Additional Information
This position is part of the Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce and requires compliance with specific program requirements. Continuous learning and maintaining appropriate credentials are essential for this role.

Experience may include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service that builds relevant competencies and skills.
