Job Summary

Portland Community College is seeking an experienced Accounting Technician II - Cash Vault to join the Bursar/Treasury Team. This role will perform a variety of cash control, bookkeeping, and accounting functions in support of registration processes, treasury, and auxiliary services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately process and verify cash deposits and cash/change orders, including counting currency, coin, and checks, and entering transactions into the computer.
  • Balance funds processed each day and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Manage multi-location department cash funds, including reconciliation, balancing cash drawers, and ensuring each location has acceptable cash and coin levels.
  • Buy and sell money from the bank and/or main office vault.
  • Perform multi-fund accounting as it pertains to cashiering, including forecasting cash needed by each campus.
  • Proficiently understand entries as it pertains to student and vendor accounts within Banner/Workday or other ERP systems.
Requirements
  • 2 years of high-volume cash handling experience in higher education, banking, or retail establishment, including daily use of cash bill/coin counting machines.
  • Experience managing multi-location department cash funds, including reconciliation, balancing cash drawers, and ensuring each location has acceptable cash and coin levels.
  • Experience in multi-fund accounting as it pertains to cashiering.
  • Demonstrated ability in reconciliation of daily transactions, including doing research, troubleshooting, and balancing transactions.
  • Proficient in understanding entries as it pertains to student and vendor accounts within Banner/Workday or other ERP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of cashiering, cash handling, or vault services experience.
  • Higher education experience.
  • Demonstrated reconciliation experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a normal office environment with exposure to video display terminals. Learned physical skill for performing keyboarding and ten-key functions.
