The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a highly motivated Community Development Program Director to lead the development and implementation of programs that promote the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of youth and adults.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and executing programs that address the needs of our community, building relationships with program participants, and promoting our youth and adult ministry programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programs that respond to community needs, including structured recreation, leagues, and tournaments, as well as unstructured recreation, after-school programs, and special interest groups.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of our Community Center, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for all.
  • Cultivate relationships with program participants, with the ultimate goal of building trust and sharing the Gospel.
  • Plan, lead, and execute our Summer Day Camp, including budget management and record-keeping.
  • Promote our youth and adult ministry programs throughout the community, working closely with Corps Officers and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with Corps Officers to develop and coordinate rental agreements for outside groups.
  • Assist with the Christmas campaign, including planning and executing special events and programs.
  • Support the Corps Officers and staff in achieving our mission, including participating in other activities and events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a related field, or 480 hours of experience in a related field.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as write simple correspondence and present information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Math Ability: Ability to perform basic math operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense and problem-solving skills to standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in word processing software and ability to learn other software as needed.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
