Job Description

RTX is seeking a highly skilled Chemical and Material Engineer II to join our Materials and Process Engineering Department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with subject matter experts and perform hands-on-testing of various production materials, including adhesives, polymers, tapes, composites, and metals.

The primary responsibilities of this position include assessing materials for conformance to internal and external specifications using instrumental analysis techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis. You will require a broad range of knowledge in chemistry, analytical instrumentation, and technical specification interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess materials for conformance to internal and external specifications
  • Perform hands-on-testing of various production materials
  • Use instrumental analysis techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis
  • Interpret technical specifications and data
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or 6+ years of experience in absence of a degree
  • Advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience
  • Experience in chemistry and laboratory equipment
  • Experience in material testing and analysis
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Equivalent Laboratory Equipment MOS or Material Testing MOS
  • Understanding of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis
  • Experience in engineering technical writing and specifications
  • Ability to communicate with parties within and outside of own discipline
