Chemical Applicator II Specialist

Job Summary

The University of Arizona is seeking a skilled Chemical Applicator II to join our Grounds Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating hand and power spray equipment to apply pre-emergent herbicides, selective and non-selective post emergent herbicides on landscape areas. You will also apply fertilizer and other nutrients in liquid and solid forms, and perform IPM inspections scouting for pests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate hand and power spray equipment to apply pre-emergent herbicides, selective and non-selective post emergent herbicides on landscape areas.
  • Apply fertilizer and other nutrients in liquid and solid forms.
  • Perform IPM inspections scouting for pests.
  • Install, adjust, and perform minor repairs on application equipment.
  • Maintain work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices and in compliance with OSHA, State of Arizona Office of Pest Management, and UofA Risk Management.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid State of Arizona Certified Applicators license with Turf and Ornamental certification.
