Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Engineer Technician II to join our team in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will assist with investigations of laminar turbulent transition of hypersonic boundary layers, learn to perform literature reviews, and participate in co-authoring peer-reviewed conference papers and journal manuscripts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with investigations of laminar turbulent transition of hypersonic boundary layers under the supervision of the PI and collaborating faculty.
  • Learn to perform literature reviews by keeping track of advances in the field.
  • Under supervision, learn to use direct numerical simulations and linear stability theory.
  • Participate in co-authoring peer-reviewed conference papers, journal manuscripts, conference presentations, and posters under the supervision of the PI.
  • Communicate results through written reports and discussion in group meetings.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to support engineering functions of research projects and write technical reports.
  • Participate in presenting at conferences, symposiums, and other events as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Experience working with C, C++, and/or Fortran.
  • Prior work or internship experience in industry preferred though not required.
