The Role

The Account Executive 2 position serves as Matson Navigation's primary liaison to import and export client sales accounts. The successful candidate will target, solicit, negotiate, and maintain business consistent with departmental goals, including revenue, volume, service, origin/destination, equipment, and cargo.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and targeting westbound and eastbound accounts aligned with management direction and individual goals.
  • Soliciting business to obtain revenue at the best possible rate for the company.
  • Maintaining accounts through relationship, reliability, and service to the customer.
  • Responding to and resolving customer inquiries and concerns as appropriate.
  • Acting as liaison between customer and internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Continuous market canvassing for new contacts and business opportunities.
  • Communicating significant trends, rate changes, and policies to assigned accounts.
  • Learning and understanding territory to identify and establish business contacts with potential customers.
  • Creating reports of activity and recommendations as requested for Matson leadership.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Suite - Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to master internal software programs to enhance work capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High-level presentation skills, with extensive experience making customer presentations.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with customers.
  • Demonstrated follow-through and detail orientation.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Matson's businesses, services, and competitive strategies.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card and have a valid driver's license. A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, along with 5-7 years of sales experience with a heavy emphasis on customer relationship management, is required.
