Job Description

The Texas A&M Corps of Cadets is seeking a highly qualified and experienced leader to serve as the Commandant of the Corps. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and prestigious organization that develops well-educated leaders of character who embody the values of honor, courage, integrity, discipline, and selfless service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the organization, academic success, training, leader development, discipline, career readiness, housing, and daily activities of the Corps of Cadets.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce standards, policies, and procedures regarding cadet performance and conduct.
  • Develop and implement a long-term vision for the Corps of Cadets in alignment with the university's strategic plan.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Corps Commander and Corps Staff.
  • Coordinate with university partners to address issues related to cadet conduct and performance.
Qualifications and Characteristics
  • Graduate of senior service school and/or master's degree.
  • Have attained the rank of Colonel or higher in the Air Force, Army, Space Force, or Marine Corps, or Captain in the Navy or Coast Guard.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Service orientation toward students, parents, staff, and faculty.
  • A team builder who can easily collaborate with others to help achieve success for the Corps of Cadets.
Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics
  • Graduate of Texas A&M and a former member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M.
  • Joint assignments within the military (i.e., experience with other Services).
  • Administrative experience in a university or academic setting.
  • Experience in business/private sector, especially at the senior executive level.
  • Served as a General/Flag Officer in a US Military.
