About the Job

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our team as a tenure-track professor in the Department of Forest Resources at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will have a strong background in tribal forest systems management, fire ecology, and related fields.

Responsibilities
  • Establish a research program that addresses important issues affecting tribal natural resources management, including fire ecology and forest dynamics.
  • Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in topics such as fire ecology, forest dynamics, dendrochronology, and Indigenous land relationships.
  • Mentor students from diverse backgrounds, including tribal and non-tribal students, in research and academic pursuits.
  • Provide outreach and service to tribal communities and organizations, including partnerships with tribal colleges and universities.
  • Participate in university faculty governance and contribute to departmental and college-level initiatives.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as forestry, geography, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in research and teaching, with a strong background in tribal forest systems management and fire ecology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities and organizations, including tribal governments and communities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience in publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
