Chemist II Job Description

Brice Engineering LLC is seeking a highly skilled Chemist II to join our team. As a Chemist II, you will play a critical role in verifying and validating analytical data on environmental projects. Your expertise will be essential in providing support for the preparation of work plans, reports, sampling, and analysis plans (SAPs)/quality assurance project plans (QAPPs). You will also be responsible for data validation and data management, communicating with subcontract laboratories, reviewing technical documents, and database management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support environmental investigations and assessments in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide data review and validation according to EPA, ADEC (or other State), and DoD specifications.
  • Adhere to schedule and financial objectives, controlling time and expenditures to achieve project goals.
  • Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, and coordination to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Evaluate and select data collection methods and procedures to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
  • Actively participate in creating a positive team environment.
  • Support project planning and proposal responses.
  • Supports technical review of chemistry documents.
  • Supports junior chemist staff.
  • Multi-tasks to manage time.
  • Manage company resources to ensure proper deliverables.
  • Actively participate in a proactive safety culture.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Environmental Studies, or other related discipline required.
  • Five to ten years of experience providing analytical review/validation and support on environmental projects.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations/guidance for Alaska; knowledge of other states and territories is preferred, though not required.
  • Knowledge of SW-846 methodology and sample handling requirements.
  • Valid state driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Engineering's Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
