About the Maintenance Technician Position

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and longevity of equipment and facilities at Garner Foods. This position involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues using assembly drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and electrical principles like VFDs and PLCs.
  • Maintenance and Operations: Utilize basic plumbing, metalworking, and general facilities/building maintenance knowledge as needed to maintain a safe and orderly work area.
  • Training and Development: Train new Associates and team members on essential maintenance skills and assist with equipment troubleshooting.
  • Production Support: Assist with production needs and train Associates on basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and orderly work area in compliance with GMP and Safety guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Certifications preferred (HVAC, PLC, Electrician, Robotics, Automotive, etc.).
  • Experience: Experience in food processing, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairing production equipment with sophisticated control systems, required.
  • Skills: Highly skilled in mechanical and pneumatic flow, installation of packaging machinery related to robotics, and proper machine operating and adjusting procedures.
  • Knowledge: Knowledgeable in repairing and troubleshooting various pumps, including centrifugal, PD, sine, and diaphragm types.
  • Communication: Proficient in communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively as part of a Self-Directed work team.
  • CMMS Platforms: Familiarity with CMMS platforms, preferably LIMBLE, and possesses general mechanical, electrical, and logic knowledge.
  • Basic Skills: Basic skills in plumbing, metalworking, and general facilities/building maintenance.
  • Environmental and Safety: Follow site Environmental and Safety policies, including LOTO, Machine Guarding, PPE requirements, and maintenance safety guidelines.
