The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, a leading institution in cancer care, research, education, and prevention, is seeking a Clinical Trials Budget Analyst - Pre-Award. This role is pivotal in developing, processing, and negotiating budgets for industry-sponsored clinical trials and amendments, as well as managing financial data for assigned Principal Investigators.


The key responsibilities of this position include:

Financial Administrative Support - 30%
  • Collaborating with the Director of Research Planning & Development to formulate budgets for clinical trials.
  • Reviewing protocols and associated documents for clarity and accuracy.
  • Coordinating with various teams to ensure comprehensive coverage analysis.
  • Establishing funding accounts for clinical trials through Advance Set Up requests.
Sponsor Negotiation and Interaction - 40%
  • Engaging in negotiations with industry sponsors and CROs to finalize clinical trial budgets.
  • Evaluating sponsor budget proposals to ensure they adequately cover trial costs.
  • Countering proposals as necessary and ensuring timely budget finalization.
Pre-Award Data Management - 20%
  • Maintaining organized files of all pre-award activities related to clinical trials.
  • Assisting in the upkeep of the ICT Timelines database for tracking contract activation.
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Research Practice standards.
Process Improvement and Training - 10%
  • Identifying areas for process enhancement within the Contracts and Budgets team.
  • Providing training and support to team members on budget-related processes.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field.

Experience:

  • Required: None; education may substitute for relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Five or more years of experience in accounting or financial data analysis, including supervisory experience.
