Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Student Conduct and Attendance Specialist to join our team at the Baltimore City Public School System. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and facilitating the district's student discipline, attendance, and related processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Discipline and Attendance Management: Coordinate, train, and provide regular support for school-based staff at elementary, middle, and high schools to ensure effective implementation of student conduct and attendance policies.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with key offices/teams throughout the district to provide parents, students, schools, and other key stakeholders with timely and helpful information about student conduct and attendance processes.
  • Student Transition Planning: Implement student transition plans, policies, and procedures to ensure a smooth transition for students.
  • Family Engagement: Meet with students and families to review and suggest school options for reentry assignments.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Manage compliance requirements at all levels - local, state, and federal - regarding school assignment and student enrollment.
  • Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of current developments, legislation, literature, and technical sources of information relevant to student wholeness, behavior management frameworks, student conduct, school reentry, attendance, and enrollment.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Three to four years of proven experience in a related field (student/family counseling, teaching, admissions, enrollment management, marketing/sales, mediation/dispute resolution, student services, social work).
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and experience communicating and interacting effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and all demographic communities. Exceptional, bilingual written and oral communication skills are needed with a strong ability to relate to a diverse range of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrollment Management Software: Experience using enrollment management software, implementing student interventions and supports, conflict mediation/resolution, professional learning facilitation, or data analysis is preferred.
  • Program Development: Previous experience in program development, team building, and providing technical assistance that supports implementation fidelity.
  • Multicultural Environment: Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment (urban setting preferred), build consensus, and maintain focus on meeting students' needs.
